Technology is an integral part of everything that happens at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School. Computers are accessible everywhere in the building, and SRMHS students have opportunities unparalleled in any other North Carolina high school to use technology to further their educational goals.
Since the technology is so accessible, however, there are ample opportunities for its misuse. For that reason, the acceptable (and unacceptable) uses of technology are clearly defined in the SRHS Acceptable Use Policy. Every student and parent must sign a document stating that they have read the AUP before a network account is issued to the student. Ignorance of the policy is not accepted as an excuse for violations. Consequences for violations may negatively impact a student's grades.
Students use technology to communicate; to research; to acquire, validate, synthesize, manipulate, manage and present information; to run simulations and perform experiments. Every student must use technology in the required graduation project.
